Question edited for clarity.Question moved from Heating and Cooling.You can open it with the backup key and replace the depleted batteries. Then reset a new combination.All this type of safe can be opened with a large rare earth magnet faster than using the combination!

The video shows one way, but the easy way is open it with the back up key, and the battery compartment is in the door. Replace the batteries and reset the combination, but make sure you do it with the door open.
