Creed 2015 storyplot

At an Los Angeles juvenile correctional facility in 1998, Adonis “Donnie” Johnson (Alex Henderson) gets into a physical fight after another boy makes comments about Donnie’s dead mother. After being removed and placed back into his cell, Donnie is visited by Mary Anne Creed (Phylicia Rashad). At first believing this woman to be yet another social worker trying to place him into another group home, Donnie refuses to talk until Mary Anne tells him his father had been her husband; then Donnie asks who had his real father been. Mary Anne tells him his name before Donnie asks her what his real father is. Michael B. Jordan plays Donnie now; in Tijuana, Baja California Mexico he competes in a boxing match and easily defeats his opponent while earning money for himself and collecting earnings. After returning home twelve hours later he works a desk job but soon become discontent; upon learning of this news from Los Angeles management he hands in his letter of resignation with immediate effect, opting to move on in life and start something new. Donnie meets Delphi Gym. Wheeler (Andre Ward) steps in and defeats Donnie, taking away his keys with ease. Later at Mary Anne’s home he sees bloodshot eyes due to fighting like Apollo did – reminding him what hardship he went through during those years when Apollo competed alongside Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone), miming Apollo’s fighting style while watching an old fight between Apollo (Andre Ward) and Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone), miming Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone), with Donnie recreating Apollo’s fighting style as his fighting style while doing an impression of fighting style mimeartipant. Donnie moves to Philadelphia looking to start over. As he adjusts, Donnie watches an news segment about undefeated boxing champion “Pretty” Ricky Conlan (Tony Bellew), who may soon compete in what may be his final professional bout before facing charges of gun possession and serving seven years behind bars for it. Conlan and Wheeler were to fight each other but instead started fighting early with each other breaking Wheeler’s jaw early enough that Wheeler filed suit against Conlan; As Donnie attempts to sleep, loud music from below comes streaming through. After knocking at Bianca (Tessa Thompson), Donnie asks her for her assistance but only gets halfhearted promises before continuing playing the same volume all night. Donnie goes to Adrian’s Restaurant owned and managed by Rocky for lunch and discovers an old photo featuring Rocky fighting Apollo (from their initial match back in 1976) before meeting Rocky for the first time – seeing their photo, Donnie asks Rocky to train him but Rocky declines; instead Donnie inquires as to a third fight they had behind closed doors at the end of Rocky III and who won. Rocky claims it was Apollo. Donnie enters another gym run by Pete Sporino (Ritchie Coster). By telling Pete Sporino he hails from L.A., Donnie earns himself the moniker “Hollywood”. Rocky continues offering assistance while Donnie decides to pursue Bianca after hearing her perform at a night club; later they go get Philly cheese steaks together where Donnie learns of Bianca’s progressive hearing loss; however she prepares accordingly. Rocky visits the cemetery on Paulie and Adrian’s birthday to pay his respects and celebrate Paulie, but also remember his deceased friend who passed away years earlier. He wants to honor Paulie by gathering at their gravesites together as Rocky wants a permanent reminder. Rocky takes Donnie under his wing and soon begins calling him “Unc.” Donnie stays at Rocky’s place as they train together from sunrise until nightfall while also forging an unbreakable bond between themselves. Donnie Creed first steps up in battle when he fights Leo (Gabe Rosado). Prior to their match, Rocky informs Pete of Donnie being Apollo Creed’s son; with hopes that doing so may garner press coverage for Donnie, but Rocky chooses instead to keep this information a secret from Leo and exploit its name for publicity purposes. When combat begins between Donnie and Leo, Donnie emerges victorious despite taking some hits en route. News spreads that Donnie is Apollo’s son from an affair during Apollo’s marriage; commentators look upon Donnie differently as well as considering whether this discovery will damage Apollo’s legacy. Meanwhile in Liverpool Conlan’s manager Tommy Holiday (Graham McTavish) learns of this news and sees an opportunity to arrange an exciting fight; so he flies to America where Rocky and Donnie meet and propose this matchup; after some discussion both agree to go forward with it. Rocky continues training Donnie until he vomits and collapses unexpectedly, prompting Donnie to rush him to hospital for testing. There he meets up with Dr. Johnson who informs them he has Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma; Dr. Johnson suggests chemotherapy but Rocky refuses as it didn’t help Adrian when the same thing happened to her; Donnie eventually discovers this on his own and becomes upset, while Rocky continues trying to accept his fate without getting help.

Due to his name being revealed publicly, Donnie fears being seen as an impostor Creed who fails his father’s legacy. While visiting Bianca at her club where she performs and meeting Tone Trump (Anthony Brice), Tone takes a photograph with Donnie but offends him by calling him Baby Creed which sparks off a fight that ends up with Donnie being arrested despite Rocky coming quickly to bail him out; later that evening Donnie goes over to Bianca’s apartment to apologize while admitting they need work on issues independently before she shuts him out altogether and stops talking to Donnie completely causing further embarrasssment to him from Bianca as she refuses him further interaction and continues with Rocky’s help as donnie comes he goes back in. Donnie and Rocky come to an understanding: Rocky will continue training Donnie for his fight, while Rocky undergoes chemotherapy treatment. After an intensive training process, Donnie garnered support in town from youths in his area – particularly among them young ones who identified with him. Conlan arrives with Holiday and begins criticizing Donnie as an overnight success and fake Creed, while Rocky urges him not to make any miscalculated moves against Conlan; Rocky warns him against doing anything out of character for Conlan or else making any stupid move that might upset Donnie further. Rocky holds Donnie back by reminding him this is what Conlan wants from them both. On fight night, even Bianca comes out to show her support. Mary Anne watches from home and sends Donnie his father’s original American flag shorts as a present. Donnie makes his way into the ring while Conlan gets an impressive entrance as all fans cheer him on and chant his name; as soon as fighting begins Conlan cuts Donnie above his eye and wins round 1. Donnie steps up and starts landing hits, though not enough to convince his opponents he deserves respect from them. Between rounds Rocky and Holiday offer their encouragement and support to Donnie’s fighter. Donnie takes several hard hits from Conlan that cause his left eye to close completely; since Donnie still sees well enough to continue fighting, Conlan strikes Donnie again and knocks him to the floor, before continuing the attack with more strikes that leave Donnie out cold. Donnie quickly remembers what he’s fighting for and gets up quickly. Donnie strikes back hard with multiple strikes before knocking Conlan to the floor before the referee can count to 10. With that, Conlan remains undefeated in their contest against Donnie. He recognizes Donnie’s work with respect, which Donnie reciprocated. A commentator approached Donnie and briefly interviewed him; Donnie acknowledged Rocky as part of his family and what message Apollo should deliver him if he were there; Donnie responded that he’d tell Apollo he loves him while noting he didn’t leave them intentionally – prompting fans to chant “Creed!” before leaving with Rocky and Bianca. Rocky and Donnie climb the iconic steps outside Philadelphia Museum of Art for one final climb, Rocky struggling a bit but encouraged by Donnie to keep moving ahead until reaching the summit and admiring its view.
