We have a 2009 Freightliner Columbia that keeps giving fault code "ecu 128 51d 153". Any ideas on what this is?
not in my range of expertise as commercial vehicle but there should also be a FMI code number to go with the fault code , follow link to the freightliner web site where you can download owner manuals etc that may give you more info on your problem also a freightliner forum would be a good source of info , keep me posted if you wish Driver Operator and Maintenance Manuals

EEC 61 is basically saying there is a problem in the After-treatment control module. This is the module the Engine uses for the aftertreatment system. Your Check Engine Light, and/or your Maintenance light will be on at the same time. The maintenance light is the light that looks like a solid yellow engine.
replied 3 years ago ago. This is an aftertreatment code. Make sure your DEF tank is at least half full. Make sure the truck doesn't get shut off with low air pressure or the lines can't purge.
Most likely it thinks the DEF tank is empty because you have the 545 25 codes which is the sensor for the level valve in the tank itself. This will also cause you to have the issue wit hteh dpf system when that level sensor is faulting. Have that sensor tested and that level sensor changed out.
ENG 0 means that there is a loss of communication with the engine ECM. You want to verify your power and grounds going to the ECM. Check between your battery box and ECM for an in-line fuse holder and blown in-line fuse or any corrosion or damage within the wire connectors and wiring between your battery box and ECM.
Fault Code 61 indicates a failure with the circuit controlling the Rail Motor and the side-to-side movement of the X-Y Shift Finger. Read below to learn how to test, clear and fix fault code errors for your Freightliner, Mack, Peterbilt, Kenworth, Volvo, International, and heavy-duty truck and equipment.
SPN 3364 Fail 2 is telling you that your Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) has a quality issue, or at least that is what the ACM thinks. There are test strips available to test for DEF contamination. Also your DEF pressure sensors, lines DEF nozzle should be checked.
If the relay fails it will cut off power to fuel pump and ignition system, which will result in a no power, and therefore no start condition. You may find that turning the key may power on the accessories, and may even crank the engine.
The EEC is an electronic control, mounted on the engine or engine fan case, drawing power from an engine alternator to receive data from sensors measuring pilot commands and monitoring flight and engine conditions such as throttle position, fuel flow, temperature, vibration, and pressure.
Why Does My Truck Need an ECC? The primary purpose of the engine control computer is to monitor sensors throughout the engine that keep tabs on your light-duty truck's emissions.
The EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) and DPF (diesel particulate filter) are two such systems. The EGR system is designed to reduce emissions by recirculating some of the engine's exhaust gas back into the engine cylinders, where it is burned again.
Also known as 'limp home mode', limp mode is a security feature in cars which activates when the engine or transmission control unit picks up a fault. Once it detects a problem, limp mode will cause the less important parts of the car, such as air conditioning, to switch off, and the speed of the car will be reduced.
The Motor Control Module (MCM) monitors rail pressure during engine shut down and compares it to a stored learned value. If the bleed-down rate has changed due to leakage and it is below the learned value, this code will set.
What are Permanent Diagnostic Trouble Codes? Permanent Diagnostic Trouble Codes (PDTCs) are very similar to regular Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). However, unlike regular DTCs, they cannot be reset by disconnecting the vehicle's battery or cleared using an On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) scan tool.
Error code P0700 signifies that a malfunction has been detected in your vehicle's transmission controls. Most modern automobiles feature a specific control module as it relates to the vehicle's automatic transmission. This module is known as the Transmission Control Module (TCM).
Flash Code 62 may also indicate that the function assigned to the Auxiliary Output #1, #2, #5, #6, #7 or #8 circuit output is open, shorted to ground. This diagnostic condition is detected when the Auxiliary Output #"X" function is OFF and the DDEC III ECM measures a low voltage on the circuit output.
The P0700 code indicates a problem with the transmission. It should not be ignored, because there can be serious drivability problems now and in the future. The technician should check for all codes present to accurately diagnose the problem.
