There will be a few games worth watching and most NFL fans know you can’t have the 49ers and Chiefs playing every week. The NFL 2024 preview Week 3 will look at all of the games on the schedule in search of a few winning selections.

Patriots vs Jets

Day/Time:
Odds: New York -7.5
Total: 42

The week starts with a bit of a dud, as New England visits the Jets. The NFL Week 3 point spreads seem a shade low on this game.

  • The Jets should have closer to -9 if for no other reason than to keep New York -3 in teaser wagers.

As it stands now, the Jets -1.5 are going to be a popular teaser play this week. This will be the home opener for Aaron Rodgers and company. The Patriots opened with Cincinnati and Seattle and are in their first division game. At the current number, you have to consider the Jets in a teaser.

Eagles vs Saints

Day/Time:
Odds: Philadelphia -3
Total: 45

The NFL 2024 preview week 3 jumps to the first Sunday game on the schedule with the Eagles visiting New Orleans. The Saints were 5-3 at home last year, while the Eagles were 5-4 away from home.

Philadelphia ended last season with six straight spread losses in the regular season and were bounced in the first round of the NFL playoffs. The Saints made a run at the playoffs but came up just short. Derek Carr had a decent year for New Orleans but needs to do a little more. The best value in this game is on the over 45.

Packers vs Titans

Day/Time:
Odds: Green Bay -3.5
Total: 44

The Titans weren’t a very good football team last year, as they began transitioning away from a few of their veterans. Even so, Tennessee was 5-4 straight-up at home and now host a Green Bay team that was 4-5 on the road. The Titans didn’t score a lot and the defensive numbers looked a little worse than the team actually was.

Green Bay opens division play next week against the Minnesota Vikings and could have a flat spot provided they defeated Indianapolis in Week 2.

The NFL news and rumors have the Titans trying to trade former first-rounder Treylon Burks. He’s had two disappointing seasons with Tennessee and could start being a distraction. The Titans get the slightest of leans here.

Bears vs Colts

Day/Time:
Odds: Indianapolis -2
Total: 47

This one could be an entertaining game with quarterbacks Caleb Williams and Anthony Richardson getting most of the attention. It’s going to be imperative for Richardson to avoid the NFL injury report this week in order for the Colts to be successful. Indianapolis had Gardner Minshew last season, but he moved on.

The odds are pretty much what you would expect in this game. Neither team was that special on defense last year, so the over might be worth a look.

Giants vs Browns

Day/Time:
Odds: Cleveland -6.5
Total: 42.5

The Browns could be a popular choice in the NFL confidence picks week 3, as they host the Giants. New York was just 2-7 on the road last year and while they may be better; aren’t up to the level of Cleveland.

The Browns could have a bit of a flat spot here after opening with Dallas and Jacksonville the first two weeks. If the line holds near what it is, Cleveland will be used in a fair number of teasers during the week.

Texans vs Vikings

Day/Time:
Odds: Houston -3.5 (-120)
Total: 46.5

The NFL scores and odds have Houston as 3.5-point favorites at Minnesota in a game that may be a little more difficult than it appears for the Texans. Sam Darnold will likely enter training camp as the No. 1 quarterback, but scouts said JJ McCarthy was probably the most NFL ready QB in the NFL draft.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see him starting by Week 3. The Vikings should get better play from the QB position this year regardless who is under center. This is the type of game where the points could come into play and Vikings offer the most value.

Chargers vs Steelers

Day/Time:
Odds: Pittsburgh -2
Total: 42.5

The Chargers are expected to bounce back from last year’s disaster, but they could be getting a little too much credit here. The Steelers aren’t a bad NFL team and should be better at quarterback than a year ago.

The NFL betting lines Week 3 seem a bit light in this one. The Chargers do have the Chiefs up next and could get caught looking ahead to that one a little. Take the Steelers -2.

Broncos vs Buccaneers

Day/Time:
Odds: Tampa Bay -3.5
Total: 43

The Denver Broncos make the trip to Tampa for an early start. The Broncos won’t be affected as much as a West Coast team, but it will still be 11 a.m. in Denver when this one kicks off.

The NFL betting odds sound about right in this game and the total is a solid number. The Bucs do have the Eagles up next and could get caught looking forward to that game. The total is a bit low, but the under makes some sense in this game.

Panthers vs Raiders

Day/Time:
Odds: Las Vegas -4
Total: 42

This game is an interesting one and some people might be using Las Vegas for their NFL confidence picks Week 3. If you can get by with using a team like the Raiders, that allows you to save one of the powerhouse teams for later on down the road.

Las Vegas is tough at home, while the Panthers need to show more in a hurry. If Las Vegas hopes to challenge for a playoff spot, these are the types of games they need to win. The Raiders make more sense than Carolina in this one.

Dolphins vs Seahawks

Day/Time:
Odds: Miami -2
Total: 49

Seattle jumps out you a little bit as another teaser candidate, pushing the line past a touchdown. The Dolphins deserve to be small road favorites here, but that doesn’t mean you have to like them in this spot.

Miami is coming off a big game with Buffalo and that game could take a little bit out of them. Seattle opened with Denver and New England, both of which were winnable games. The Seahawks could have some confidence heading into this one and have to be given consideration.

49ers vs Rams

Day/Time:
Odds: San Francisco -3
Total: 48

The NFL matchups Week 3 have a decent NFC West contest between the 49ers and the Rams. The game takes on a little more added importance due to it being a division contest. The spread might be a shade low considering it’s not a bad spot for San Francisco. The 49ers are coming off Minnesota and have New England up next.

This could be a bigger game for the Rams, but it’s not going to be easy. The under 48 looks to offer the most betting value in this game.

Lions vs Cardinals

Day/Time:
Odds: Detroit -4
Total: 50

The Lions shouldn’t have many problems putting points on the NFL scoreboard this year. The Cardinals might be a decent offensive team, but that remains to be seen. Detroit’s defense isn’t the greatest around, so the potential is there for a shootout in the desert.

  • The NFL Week 3 implied team totals are calling for a 27-23 Detroit victory.

Both teams are capable of scoring more points than predicted. The key will be the offenses getting into the end zone and not settling for field goals. It’s a tough call, but would give the lean to the over.

Ravens vs Cowboys

Day/Time:
Odds: Dallas -1
Total: 48

This game will be popular in NFL Week 3 betting, although it’s not the easiest game to get a read on. Dallas was extremely tough at home last season, but the Ravens can play with anybody when things are clicking. The key to the game is going to be the run defense of the Cowboys.

If Dallas can win the line of scrimmage it should win the football game. That’s usually easier said than done against this Baltimore team.

Chiefs vs Falcons

Day/Time:
Odds: Kansas City -3
Total: 49

The Sunday night game isn’t a bad one, although there are certainly better games on the schedule. Kirk Cousins gets his chance to shine in prime time, but Kansas City can play defense.

The Chiefs don’t get the recognition on the defensive side that they deserve, but they’re fine with that as long as they continue to win. The total seems to be a little bit on the high side in this game. The over under Week 3 NFL play here will be on the under 49.

Jaguars vs Bills

Day/Time:
Odds: Buffalo -5
Total: 49

The first of two Monday night games this week sees the Jaguars visiting the Bills. Jacksonville defeated Buffalo last year overseas and matches up well with the Bills.

This is obviously a revenge game for Buffalo, but it’s also not a very good spot. The Bills are coming off a game with Miami and has Baltimore up next. Take the Jaguars +5 for one of your best bets Week 3 NFL.

Commanders vs Bengals

Day/Time:
Odds: Cincinnati -7 (-115)
Total: 48

The NFL 2024 preview Week 3winds up with Washington visiting the Bengals in the regularly scheduled Monday night game. The Bengals are still getting a lot of respect entering the season and it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see this line a little less the week of the game.

A lot of that has to do with Jayden Daniels and how he looks.

  • Right now, the Commanders +7 have to be the side to look at.
